The PANASONIC TH 50PZ800 50 INCH PLASMA is one of Panasonic's VIERA Plasma 1080p series, featuring a new panel with a superb contrast ratio of 30000:1 and an improved anti-reflective screen, a Game Mode, VIERA Link and increased luminous efficiency. In addition this television has all the extras you could possibly want such as 100Hz to help reduce blurriness on fast moving images and we always love a tv that has a good number of HDMI slots, with 4 slots for all your Blu-ray, DVD upscaler, Sky or Virgin HD needs.

The Panasonic TH 50PZ800 50 plasma also features toughened front-panel glass, designed to withstand some pretty heavy knocks - ideal if you have kids. As we have mentioned on other pages, flat screen tvs will never boast the best sound system in the world, due to the fact that to get really great sound you need depth in the speakers and this goes against the nature of flatscreen tvs. Having said that all Panasonic Viera sets claim to be have been given a sonic boost via Panasonic's V Audio upgrade, despite boasting 40 percent slimmer speakers. The 800 series also features an additional V Audio Surround bass module.

In our opinion this 50 plasma tv is superb for picture quality. Although perhaps not as sleak as the Pioneer Kuro, the price compared to the Pioneer makes it in our book great value for money for getting one of the best HD 50 plasma tvs out there and is why we rated the Panasonic TH 50PZ800 number 2 in our top 5, 50 plasma tvs.

The 50PZ800B's flagship status is also evident in its video processing engine. First of all there's Panasonic's V-Real 3 system, which we've previously seen deliver some superlative results when it comes to reducing video noise, improving fine detail levels, tidying up motion reproduction, boosting colour toning and gradations, and enhancing contrast (among other things).
