Review of the Panasonic TH50PZ81
The Panasonic TH50PZ81 series feature a built-in Freesat tuner so you can watch HD channels from the BBC and ITV without the need for a separate box.
The blacks on this 50 plasma tv are fantastic and are only beaten by the Pioneer Kuros, thanks to the new Real Black Drive system that produces deep, strong blacks. When we watched the Wimbledon Tennis, not only were the blacks strong but the whites weren't burnt out either.
The Intelligent Frame Creation that Panasonic add to this 50 plasma tv helps obtain smooth motion on fast moving images. This is particularly useful when watching the Grand Prix, Olympics or your typical film on Blu-ray.
The sound is better than most flat screen tvs with it's in-built V-Real Pro 3 surround sound technology (with bass extension).
Although the 24p setting is not essential in tvs, it is an extra feature that we find useful on modern tvs to help reduce a small amount of judder that can occur with the conversion from 24 frames to 25 frames per second. It is these types of features along with the 3 HDMI sockets and SD memory card slot that all help us rate the Panasonic TH50PZ81 as No.4 in our "Top 10, 50 Plasma TVs".

HDTVtest highly recommend this tv:
It’s easy to be lulled into thinking that the Panasonic TH50PZ81 is simply a PZ85 augmented by the addition of a Freesat tuner, but the PZ81 boasts a few extra features not found on the PZ85: picture-and-picture (PaP) and picture-in-picture (PiP) functions; AVCHD movie playback through its SD card slot; and an ethernet port which may gain BBC iPlayer/ media streaming support in the future.
